Thanks
for dropping in..
This little website (OK, a quite big website)
has just reached a milestone, and we're dead
chuffed about it. Ayup cracked 500,000 hits
a month during October, which is a hell of a
lot of bored Yorkshire folks.
It
might be a drop in the ocean for the big hitters
like the Yorkshire Posts but for a pub joke
of a site like this one, where half the sections
haven't been updated for ages this is amazing
news.
It's
been a great year- the best the site did month
by month in 2001 was just over 200,000. Every
month this year has done better than this. Just
goes to show that the snowball is still rolling!

STORIES
OF THE DAY

David
Parry, an amateur historian from
Wombwell has just completed photographing
every pub in Yorkshire. All 900 of 'em.
And the killing joke is that he never
had a drink in any of 'em 'cos he's diabetic!

Yorkshire,
is fast becoming the location of
choice for the Hollywood movie moguls.
Turns out that everything they need from
scabby urban squalour to fantastic countryside
is available right here. All they are
missing are the production facilities.

The
site started life as a pub conversation after
a football match, with the participants bemoaning
the fact that most Yorkshire webbery at the
time was no fun. So after a bevvy or three the
plan was in place.
Encouragement
from a few workmates meant that the name Ayup
was chosen as our version of Hello Magazine
and the legend was born. Of course to some of
you this is a bit of a cobweb site, with none
of the daily updates you get from the professional
sites.
But
with half the contributors of this site either
AWOL, hungover or trying to raise money for
a working computer or two don't expect any sudden
movement quite yet. When we're all grown up,
perhaps.
There's
always room for a contribution or two, so if
you think you've got what it takes to get onto
Yorkshire's most disreputable website do drop
a line. In the meantime on behalf of the Ayup
team I'm instructed to say ta fer the support
and we really appreciate you dropping in.
So
anyway back to the stats. If the growth rate
goes on at this rate we'll be on a million hits
a month by this time next year, by which time
with luck the site'll be a damn sight busier
and better organised. Mind you, its probably
the dodgy jerry built overloaded pages that
attracted you here in the first place.
Who
needs any of those data-driven info sights for
sore eyes anyway. Bit of mayhem never did anyone
any harm - specially online when you need an
antidote to seriousness.
